Privacy & Data

How Yorker handles your data, and how to download or delete your account.

Your privacy matters. Here is how Yorker handles your data.

Data privacy and security at Yorker

What data we store

  • Account information — Name, email, and cricket profile
  • Date of birth (optional) — Used only to keep coaching age-appropriate. Players under 18 get extra protections, and an account with no date of birth on file is treated as a minor's for those protections (see Players under 18 below)
  • Coach memory — Facts the coach picks up from your chats (a goal, an injury, a preference), plus the long-term summary it writes about your cricket. See everything it holds, and where each fact came from, in Personalization → What the coach knows about you
  • Coaching conversations — Your chat history with AI coaches
  • Analysis data — Photos you upload and the resulting pose analysis
  • Session recordings — Video Coach sessions are recorded by default so you can re-watch them; turn recording off in Settings, or delete any recording at any time
  • Emotion cues in live sessions — During a live 1:1 session the coach can read your facial expression and tone to adapt its coaching. A "Coach can see you" badge is always shown while this is active — there is no silent sensing. Turn it off any time in Personalization; it is always off for players under 18, and raw video frames are never stored
  • Usage data — Basic analytics to improve the platform

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data to third parties
  • We do not use your photos or conversations for advertising
  • We do not share your individual data with team admins (only aggregate stats)

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access — Request a copy of all your data
  • Correct — Update inaccurate information
  • Delete — Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Withdraw consent — Opt out of specific data processing activities

We ask for consent separately for each purpose — coaching memory, mental-training insights, WhatsApp coaching, marketing, session recordings, and emotion-aware coaching — and you can withdraw any of them independently without losing the rest of the platform.

What the coach knows about you

Go to Personalization → What the coach knows about you for the full picture:

  • Every remembered fact, grouped by kind, each showing the conversation it was learned from. Facts the coach learned before we started keeping receipts say so honestly rather than guessing
  • Correct or delete any single fact, or clear all of them at once
  • The coach's summary of you — what it has synthesized from your sessions, when it was written, and how long it is
  • Export — download every fact, the summary, and your consent history as a JSON file

Players under 18

Under-18 players can use Yorker with a parent or guardian's consent, which we verify by emailing the guardian a one-time code. Four features are locked for an account we treat as a minor's — mental training, emotion-aware coaching, the coach's long-term summary, and team or academy workspaces. Emotion-aware coaching stays off for minors even with guardian consent. Everything else — coaching chat, lessons, video and technique analysis — works normally.

Two things do run on a minor's account, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise: coaching memory (the coach remembers facts from your chats) and coaching-style experiments (we test which explanation style works better). Neither is used for advertising, and we do not sell data or track anyone across other sites at any age.

Deleting your data

Coaching conversations can be deleted from Personalization → Data Controls. Coach memory can be cleared from the memory page above.

Deleting your account

Go to Settings and use the account deletion section to permanently delete your account and all associated data. This action is irreversible.

Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256)
  • We use Supabase for database hosting with row-level security
  • Authentication uses secure one-time codes — no passwords stored
